SJJ Varsity Golf Team Wins TRAC Championship

Golf Varsity 1St. John’s Jesuit Varsity Golf Team earned first place in the first TRAC Golf Championship today after playing the final of four matches at Stone Ridge in Bowling Green.  The Titan Team led the conference in its final match.   Findlay High School ranked second and St. Francis de Sales came in third.  This is the first golf trophy in the TRAC Championship and the first trophy awarded in this new conference.

Four matches made up the TRAC Conference Championship including  matches on August 10 at Red Hawk Run in Findlay; Maumee Bay on August 12; Fremont Country Club on August 19; and today’s match at Stone Ridge.

According to Varsity Golf Coach David Gigax, “St. John’s is proud of its win in the TRAC Golf Championship.  This new league is balanced and very competitive.  Consistent play throughout the year is what earned our team this impressive title."

Assistant Golf Coach Mussa Orra ’02, gave credit to Seniors Denny Brown’12 and Dominic Restivo’12 who led the team in this final match.

Brown was named First Team All Conference honors.  Restivo, Topher Garzony ’13, and Brian Hoeflinger ’13 were named Second Team All Conference honors.  Jack Mancinotti ’15  was named Honorable Mention.    First year Head Coach Dave Gigax was voted Coach of the Year.  This is the first year for Gigax as Head Golf Coach.

There are 21 golfers on the Titan Golf Team, with six players representing Varsity including Brown, Restivo, Garzony, Hoeflinger , Mancinotti, and Austin Gardner ‘13.
