Academics

The School

St. John's Jesuit High School, founded in 1898 and re-established in 1965, is a four-year, college preparatory school with an enrollment of approximately 850 male students, and an academy started in 2004 with 100 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.

St. John's is a member of the Jesuit Secondary Education Association, and is accredited as a college preparatory school by the State of Ohio Department of Education, the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and the ohio Catholic School Accrediting Association.

St. John's Jesuit Academy is a member of the Coalition of Essential Schools and will enlarge to include a 6th grade class this fall.

Faculty

St. John's has 84 faculty and administrative members holding 6 doctorates, 45 master degrees, and 33 bachelor degrees. The school has a 9:1 student to faculty/administration ratio.

Grade Point Average

Each student's grad point average is computed based on all courses taken in high school, except Physical Education and SAT Prep. In evaluating GPA, the following factors should be noted:

  • Students are admitted selectively.
  • Students are not ranked.
  • Advanced Placement and Honors courses are weighted (AP=1.0 Honors=.5 provided C or better)
  • Virtually all St. John's graduates go on to college with 92.7% entering four-year colleges within one year.
