List of Clubs & Activities

We have such a diverse group of students, which explains the wide variety of clubs and activities we have to offer.

 

African-American
We participate in the Black College Fair Trip, Black History March, Mentor/Tutor Program at Pickett Elementary, Cedar Point Trip and African-American Picnic. We have a great time and hope you'll join us.

Art and Photo
Looking for an opportunity to express your talent? Join us. Our photography has been displayed in Cleveland and the Toledo Museum of Art.

Bird-Watching
Learn more about birds by identifying them and visiting their habitats in and around Northwest Ohio. We have lots of great places to go, including Magee Marsh.

Bowling
Doesn't matter how high or low your scores are. Sign up during the Fall for a great time at the alley.

Bridge
You'll have opportunities to play really great Bridge in national and international tournaments.

Business
The stock market, business start-ups, fundraising - just part of what you'll learn to help you navigate your financial future.

Campion Hall Players
We need you to help put on our Fall plays and Spring musicals. Actors as well as stage crew and cast.

Cheerleading
Any senior willing to promote school spirit may join. We work closely with the Spirit Club and pep band, too.

Chess
No Bobby Fischers here, but we love the game and have a lot of fun playing it.

Chess Team
Learn more about the game, improve your skills and compete against Toledo area students. Opportunities for state and national play also possible.

China
China's our focus, including its culture, cuisine, customs and language.

Comedy Central
Ready for a good laugh? Come and enjoy the roots of comedy from The Three Stooges to Johnny Carson.

Computer/Wired
We're into PC repair, game days and the annual Wired Club Silent Auction.

Cooking
We're all about food. So bring your favorite recipes and join us.

Creative Writing
We're love to write.. Come and share your favorite poems, plays, stories, scripts.

Crew
We have a Fall and a Spring season, and we row on the Maumee River, among other bodies of water. And we car pool, so anyone can join. It's an amazing adventure.

Euchre
Want to learn this very popular T-town game? Join us.

Film Society
Gain knowledge of many genres of film through film history, mechanics and artistic analysis. We watch a movie a week.

Fitness
Find out what the Lyden Center has to offer. We focus on fitness, proper nutrition and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Fly Fishing
Calling all fishermen or future anglers: Learn the basics and head outdoors to practice your skills.

Forensics (Competitive Speaking)
Public speaking is an important skill. We offer opportunities to compete in events ranging from dramatic interpretation, extemporaneous speaking, original oratory and more.

French
If you'd like to sample French Cuisine, play games and watch movies, check us out.

Future Film Makers
We create and produce feature films. Why not? It's how Spielberg got started.

German
Want to experience German culture? Do you like to watch movies? Get involved.

Gospel Choir Ensemble
We perform at Masses, special events and private engagements. Great way to make yourself and someone else happy.

Junior Engineering Technical Society JETS
We design and build objects and go on field trips. Perfect precursor to your brilliant career.

Juggling
Because this is a service opportunity, your new juggling skills will entertain individuals at hospitals, nursing homes and during Open House. Lots of fun - and pretty funny.

INSCAPE Literary Magazine
Help publish or simply write - a spectacular way to see your thoughts and art in print.

Martial Arts
We explore the philosophy of various schools of thought through films, handouts, discussions and visits from martial arts practitioners.

Science
Visit local industries involved with energy and transportation. Davis-Besse, museums, Toledo Botanical Garden, research labs and Toledo Hospital are among the places we've visited. Great access to cutting-edge research.

Spanish
Take Spanish a step further and learn more about the food, culture and sights in Spanish-speaking countries.

Student Council
We hold meetings on Wednesday afternoons after school. To be elected to Student Council, you need to run for class representative or be elected to the Executive Council. We sponsor elections, dances and many other social and service opportunities. And, by the way, you don't have to be a representative to work on committees.

Student Sports Information Directors
Duties include attending SJJ home sporting events, keeping stats, and assisting with game operations.

TV-4
News preparation, broadcasting, technical expertise and taping are all part of what we do.

Titan Pride
We do service projects with Ronald McDonald House and work with schools in Lucas County to plan activities. We're affiliated with the Lucas County Youth-to-Youth Organization.

Yearbook
We're always looking for energetic, dependable individuals. Could that be you?


Other Opportunities

Athletics
More than 65% of the student body is involved in a sport or two (some 3) .There are three high school sports seasons. Pay attention to the announcements for starting dates. If you have specific questions, see Mr. Miller.

Ambassadors
These guys are truly that...ambassadors of good will and Titan pride. Members are chosen after recommendation of teachers and an interview process. We work with admissions, advancement and alumni and participate in service and volunteer projects, including 8th grade visits, Dinner Auction, Freshman Orientation and Reunion Weekend.

Campus Ministry
We help plan school Masses, retreats, prayer services and other spiritual activities. This is one of the busiest departments at St. John's.

Christian Service
Members are chosen by recommendation and interview. We plan Hunger Awareness Week and all mission collections. Service opportunities in the community and in Guatemala and the Dominican Republic are available.

Intramural Sports
If you enjoy playing sports for fun, here's your chance. Each intramural season runs approximately six weeks. Football is played in the Fall, basketball in the Winter and soccer in the Spring.

National Honor Society
Election is based on superior grades, service to school and community and recommendations from within and outside the SJJ community. Juniors and seniors are eligible.

Peer Meditators
Mediators are trained to work with students involved in situations that involve conflict. This is a great way to learn how to think and act in stressful situations.
