ADD/ADHD Information

New research from MIT shows that dietary protein triggers the synthesis of alertness-inducing neurotransmitters (including dopamine and norepinephrine), while dietary carbohydrates trigger the synthesis of neurotransmitters (like serotonin) that cause drowsiness.

This means people with ADD are more successful on a protein-rich breakfast and lunch. A protein-rich breakfast also reduces the likelihood that ADD medication will cause irritability or restlessness.

ADD medication is still the most effective treatment for ADD, but diet can enhance the success of the ADD individual.
