SJJ Moms Circle

Hello Moms!

We are reaching out any way we can to get the SJJ Moms’ Circle to GROW!

The MORE people we have involved the more connections, support and volunteers we will have to make our mission successful.

For Moms of SJJ students to unite as one, to create a circle to connect and support one another.

In doing so, we are able to build a support system for the entire SJJ staff.

This, in turn, will help develop our Titans into Men for Others who are caring Christians and academically successful.

Please take a few minutes to share this with all Moms you can reach.  Use any social media forms that you can.

Thanks so very much.

Greetings SJJ Parents!

Happy End-of-summer! We are looking forward to another great year, especially under the wonderful leadership of our new president, Fr. Jeff. (I hope to see you at one of the Masses with Fr. Jeff on August 2nd or 11th at 7pm!)

I'd like to start the year by thanking MaryKay Urbanski for her enthusiastic, spirited leadership throughout the 2015-2016 academic year. In addition, thank you to all the wonderful committee chairs and their volunteers who supported many school functions, including:

  • Mini-Class Night
  • Parent-Teacher Conferences
  • Open House

We had a very enthusiastic group of mothers who planned wonderful community building events such as:

  • the beautiful Mother/Son Mass and Breakfast,
  • a very fun and groovy Mom Prom,
  • a fabulous Titan Trunk Show,
  • and a touching Senior Mom Reflection

...and mothers who gave their time and talent to show appreciation to our amazing faculty and staff by providing food for four Faculty and Staff Appreciation Luncheons, as well as showing

support for our wider community by

  • providing weekly casseroles for the Labre program to feed our fellow community members in the central city area,
  • planning a meaningful Pop in for a Cause to support Sunshine (the organization SJJ partnered with to provide service to 50 years ago in conjunction with the celebration of SJJ's 50th anniversary).

As we start the new year, I'd like to extend a warm welcome to all the new freshman, transfer students and faculty/staff and their families. Welcome back to all those returning, too! The goal of the SJJ Mothers' Club is to assist teachers and administration as they strive to fulfill the mission of the school in creating Men for Others by supporting school events, and foster camaraderie among our parent community through building a strong sense of common purpose and mission. Here are the next two month's events:

  • Wednesday, August 17th at 8:00am: In conjunction with the first day of classes for the freshman and the registration day for those in 10th-12th grade, we will be celebrating the start of the new school year with a Welcome Mass. Fr. _______will be presiding, and all families, new and returning, are welcome! This will be followed by (hosting) a program called SJJ 101, an opportunity to hear from a panel of past and current SJJ mothers who have graciously offered to share insights and tips from their SJJ experiences over the years, and will be available to answer any questions you may have. (If you are unable to attend this program, we will have representatives from the Mothers' Club available before and after the Freshman Parent Orientation the previous evening, Tuesday, August 16 at 6pm).

  • Wednesday, August 31 at 7:00pm: Mini-Class Night. This is an opportunity for all parents to experience the class schedule of their son(s) by visiting each class for 5-7 minutes before moving on to their subsequent class. This is a very well attended event--one of the biggest of the year! If you would like to help provide hospitality and refreshments for this wonderful event for the SJJ parent community, please click here: www.SignUpGenius.com/go/508044FA9AC2DA46-hospitality

  • Thursday, September 1 at 5:00pm: Welcome Back to School Tailgate Party prior to the start of our first home game against Rogers. Kick-off is at 7pm. Join us for a casual, fun opportunity to mingle and meet others in the SJJ community!

  • Thursday, September 15: Show your appreciation for SJJ faculty and staff by helping to provide items for an appreciation luncheon. Faculty and staff truly appreciate the break from having to pack their lunch for one day per quarter.

  • Sunday, September 18 at 9:00am: Mother and Son Mass and Breakfast. This is a great opportunity to spend some quality time with your son through attending Mass together, listening to a speaker and sharing a meal together. It's also a wonderful opportunity to meet the mothers of your son's friends!

  • Ongoing opportunity to contribute to St. John's Labre Program: Each Monday, a group of SJJ and St. Ursula students visit 3-4 sites in the central Toledo area to provide food and fellowship to those they encounter. In addition to the soup, sandwiches and selected goodies the students themselves provide, they like to serve hot casseroles. Would you be willing to support this worthwhile ministry? if so, sign up here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0e4faeae2ea46-casseroles1

If you are interested in attending any of these events or would like to help plan or volunteer, please sign up here:  http://bit.ly/SJJMoms

The remaining events for the year can be found on the SJJ Mothers' club webpage on the main SJJ website. Let's make it a great one!
