Digital Photography

In the Digital Photography class at St. John's Jesuit, students use SLR digital cameras supplied by the school to begin the process of understanding images and making critical choices based on design elements and photo techniques.

Beginning with studies in black and white composed for thematic impact, students progress to utilizing the 6.1 mega-pixel cameras available with digital processing. Adobe Photoshop and Light room are also used as the core software components for manipulation and organization.

Students participate in a review of the work and techniques of historically recognized photographers for comparative study.

A brief history of photography from its earliest methods to the present day is also integrated into the project curriculum.
