Congratulations to the SJJ Chess Team, which competed over the weekend in the National Chess Championships in Atlanta, Georgia. The trio of Brison Woods, Spencer Rogers, and Isaac Rogers finished 21st overall, with Isaac Rogers finishing 25th individually. Great job, Titan pawn stars!

The SJJ swimming and diving team concluded its season on Saturday, finishing 16th of 24 total teams at the District meet in Bowling Green. The SJJ Debate team competed over the weekend at the District tournament in Columbus. Eight debaters qualified for the State tournament, the most in SJJ history. Congratulations to the SJJ Mock Trial team, which competed at the Downtown Toledo Municipal Courthouse on Friday. The team received high praises from the panel of attorneys and judges for their hard work, conduct, and performances. Sophomores Jack Spengler and Zach Richards each received “Outstanding Witness” awards from the judges’ panel. Great job, Titan legal eagles!

The SJJ Robotics teams wrapped up their seasons over the weekend. The Broken Axels won the "Innovate" award and were finalists for the "Think" award. The team was ranked 5th at the end of qualifiers and advanced to the semi-finals of the elimination rounds. The Smoking Motors finished the season with a match record of 5-5.

On Saturday, members of the SJJ chorus and band participated in a competition at Lake High School. Receiving ratings of "Superior" were Cameron Augustiniak, Sam Wagner, Robert Cornwell, and the SJJ Vocal Ensemble. Receiving ratings of "Excellent" were Connor Long and Matt Brangham. Congratulations to our Titan musicians, and to everyone involved with Saturday's "Battle of the Bands."

The SJJ chess team tied for 1st place in its competition this past weekend. Dylan Francis finished 1st in his division, and Isaac Rogers took 2nd place overall. The Titan pawn stars will begin playoff competition next week.

The SJJ swimming and diving team fell short last night against Wauseon, 98-81. Rob DiSalle took 1st place in the 200 individual medley and the 100 free, Spencer Rogers took 1st in the 100 butterfly and 50 free, Patrick Gorman took 1st in the 100 backstroke, and Jackson Stout was 2nd in 1-meter diving. The aqua-Titans will compete again on December 19th at Cleveland State University.

Contributing to the Titans' victory were freshman Zak Carpenter, sophomores Mike Shiple and Anthony Quinto, and junior Vinnie Raczkowski, who at one point bowled seven strikes in a row en route to a 278 game. The team will take on Whitmer this Saturday and can move into 1st place with a sweep. Great job, Titan bowlers!

The SJJ cross country team finished in 6th place out of 45 total teams this past Saturday at the Tiffin Carnival. Senior Jake Barnes led the Titans, crossing the line in 18th place individually. Barnes was followed by senior Ben Clark, who finished 39th, and junior Adam Farthing, who finished 52nd. The Titan harriers will compete again on Saturday at Ottawa Park Golf Course.

Senior Jake Barnes led the Titans with a 5th place overall finish. Senior Ben Clark and junior Adam Farthing also contributed finishing 8th and 9th, respectively. SJJ races next this Saturday at the Tiffin Carnival, one of the biggest meets in the country.

Attention seniors: Application Boot Camp is tonight. You can attend either of the two sessions that will be held in the SJJ Chapel. The first session begins at 3:30pm and will end around 5pm, while the second session starts at 6pm and will end around 7:30pm. Remember to bring a laptop or iPad, and make sure you've registered for the "common application." Be aware, you do not need to be in dress code at your session.

Students who weren't able to pick up their 2015 yearbook during registration should stop by Room 190 after school one day this week to retrieve their book.

Attention sophomores, juniors, and seniors: Your Retreat dates were emailed to you on Monday and Tuesday. Check that message to confirm your date. Support the Ronald McDonald House at Promedica Toledo Hospital and help build a playground this Saturday. SJJ is looking for volunteers 16 years of age and older. Any volunteers under 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent. Visit the Christian Service Office if you are interested or for more information.
